Have a Wonderful Summer!

The 2010-2011 school year flew by! I can't believe it is summer already. We had a busy last week of school with celebrations and awards. I am so proud of the accomplishments the kids made this year. Keep reading and practicing math facts over the summer so they have a head start for next year.
As many of you know, Mrs. Bether retired this year. We will have 2 principals filling her role next year: Mr. Mike Bryan, and Mrs. Stefani Dreiling. Bear with us as we try to make this transition as smooth as possible. As information on the calendar and beginning of school activities is decided upon, I will let you know.
Just a few reminders: 1) if you have an out of district student, transportation arrangements will be made through your home district, 2) a current physical is needed for Reins of Hope which will start in September (the physical must not be more than 1 year old), 3) breakfast and lunch are served at BGS - if you would like for your child to participate in one or both please let us know so that we can make sure to grab breakfast for children whose busses run late
I think that is all for now.
Enjoy your summer,
Mrs. Smith

Last Ride

Wednesday was our last ride for the year at Reins of Hope. We played a memory game with animals and created sentences about them. There was a puppy there for us to pet. We each got blue ribbons.

Monday, May 18

A friend from 5th grade came to our room to make origami with us today. He taught us different folds to create a dragon.

April 13, 2011

Today we did an activity where we made a little baby chicks. DD hung them in the hallway for us. Our class got an X-Box Kinect as part of the healthy schools grant. HN was our star X-Box student today so he got to play with his 6th grade friend. We spent lots of time doing laptop activities today, and we read a book about Easter. Yesterday, we wrote a paragraph about Easter and illustrated it. Tomorrow we have the 3rd & 4th grade music program.

Long time, no post

It has been quite awhile since we have posted anything. Amazing how quickly time flies! Only 1 more week until spring break. Here are a few things to be aware of and watching for in the next few weeks . . .
1. Grade cards will be coming home next Wednesday along with progress reports for IEP goals - remember you can check your student's grades anytime online using the PowerSchool website. If you are unsure of how to access it, please contact me.
2. State assessments will be in full swing over the next few weeks. Most students in our room are doing a portfolio assessment so we will be doing small portions at a time.
3. Scholastic book orders are due next week Wednesday
4. Reins of Hope will be starting again the last week of March. We will be going on Wednesday mornings.
Thanks for all of your support,
Mrs. Smith
